Lapidary workshops take place at Kyle Centre up to four times a week
Our club hosts general lapidary workshops at Kyle Centre up to four times a week. These workshops are drop-in sessions open to club members. If you would like to use our workshop but are not a member, read about joining our club. Prospective members are welcome to attend two observation-only workshop sessions to learn what our workshops are all about before applying for membership.
The focus of this workshop is cutting and polishing stone to create cabochons for display and jewellery purposes. Members have access to silicon carbide and diamond grinding and polishing wheels, in addition to trim and slab saws. Our workshop supervisors will mentor new participants and teach the tools and tricks of the trade. All you need to begin is a willingness to learn; we'll provide you with what you need to start. More seasoned participants will bring their own supplies, including:
All workshop users are required to pay a $1.00 access fee for each workshop session they participate in, and sign our waiver before using the equipment. New members are exempt from the access fee during their first two visits to the lapidary workshop. All workshop users agree to read and follow our Workshop Rules and Regulations, Appendix B of our Club Bylaws.
